Installing Jetpack
The first thing we need to do is check and see if Jetpack is installed.
To see if Jetpack is installed log into your site and head to your “Dashboard”, click on the “Plugins” tab in the left panel.
There look to see if Jetpack is already installed. If it is you can move on to the Connecting to WordPress.com section.
At the top of the screen press the “Add New” button.
If you search for “Jetpack”, you’ll find the latest version and be able to install it by clicking the “Install Now” link.
Don’t see a Plugins menu in your dashboard? Then your site is probably on WordPress.com and you don’t need Jetpack–its features are already bundled into your site!
Connecting to WordPress.com
One of the main reasons why Jetpack works so well is it uses WordPress.com powerful infrastructure. In order to use WordPress.com’s infrastructure you need to connect your Jetpack powered site to WordPress.com. This requires a free WordPress.com account.
Once you press the “Connect to WordPress.com” button you’ll be taken to a log in screen.
If you have a WordPress account already you can just sign in. Otherwise, you’ll need to sign up for one by pressing “Need an account” link.
Here you will be taken to a sign up form where you will be able to sign up for a free WordPress.com account.
Once you have your WordPress.com account you just need to log in.
