Build UTM tracking URLs without manual input or external tools and make it easier to track website traffic and analyze marketing campaigns.
The UTM URL Builder, along with the UTM feature in general, is available to users with a commercial Jetpack Stats plan or as part of a Jetpack Complete bundle plan.
Overview
UTM codes are strings of text added to URLs that tell analytics tools specific information about the link. Our UTM URL Builder is a tool that helps you generate URLs with UTM parameters. These parameters allow you to track the effectiveness of your campaigns by identifying the source, medium, and campaign name. This guide will walk you through the steps to create a UTM-tagged URL, which you can then share through your preferred mediums.
Steps to create a UTM-tagged URL
- Open the UTM URL Builder: Access the UTM URL Builder tool from your Jetpack Stats dashboard under Jetpack → Stats. Scroll down to the UTM card and click the
URL Builder
button. A UTM Builder prompt will open up. - Enter the Site or Post URL: In the Site or post URL field, enter the URL of the site or post you want to track. For example:
mygroovyjetpacksite.com/sample-post
- Fill in the UTM parameters:
- UTM source: Enter the source of the traffic. This identifies where the traffic is coming from. Common examples include the name of a search engine, newsletter, or social media platform. In this example, we can use:

- Review and copy the generated URL: After entering all the UTM parameters, the tool will generate a URL that includes these parameters.
- Copy the URL: Click the Copy to clipboard button to copy the generated URL. You can now share this URL in your respective campaigns to track the traffic effectively.
You can generate similar UTM-tagged URLs for multiple traffic sources, mediums, and campaign scenarios and distribute them to visitors through their respective channels.
What’s next: Reviewing traffic in Jetpack Stats
Once you’ve generated and distributed your UTM-tagged URLs, you’re now empowered to review your traffic from various mediums, campaigns, and sources. You can do so from the same Jetpack Stats dashboard in Jetpack → Stats, under the UTM card.
By regularly reviewing and analyzing traffic data from your UTM parameters, you can continuously improve your content strategies and drive better results for your site. You can read more on this at Harnessing UTM Stats for Precision Tracking.
