The Twitter Widget shows your latest tweets within a sidebar on your theme. It’s an easy way to add more activity to the sites you want to promote.
With the Twitter widget, you can embed Tweets (posts on Twitter) into your sidebars.
Note: You don’t need a Twitter account to be able to use it. You can only embed public tweets, though.
To add this widget, you first need to make sure the ‘Extra Sidebar Widgets’ feature is enabled.

Apart from a single tweet, you can also use the block to add:
- Profile links – shows the latest tweets from a user.
- Twitter List – shows the latest tweets from a Twitter List.
- Tweet – shows an unique tweet.
Steps to add Twitter widget
- You need to find the URL of the Tweet: Like other social networks, the post date of a single Tweet is linking to the single tweet view.
- To grab the URL, point your mouse to the date, using the right mouse click menu select Copy Link Address.
- Depending on the version of the Twitter Interface (Mobile or Desktop) you can also use the share option left option on the bottom of the tweet.
- Go to Appearance > Widgets in your WordPress Dashboard.
- Find the “Twitter (blue bird icon)” and add it to one of your active sidebars.
- Paste your Twitter address or the embed tweet link in to the corresponding field within your Widgets Dashboard.
